The 2011 Calgary Choice Awards will salute Calgary businesses at the annual Gala on Friday, September 30, 2011 in the beautiful Palomino Ballroom at the Calgary Stampede Grounds. Public nomination will open online March 1 through to April 30, 2011. Calgarians will cast their votes beginning May 30, 2011. Voting will close on Sept. 1, 2011.

The Calgary Choice Awards was created by a group of volunteer parents, children’s education professionals and business professionals with a common goal; to celebrate our Calgary Businesses and unbridled entrepreneurial spirit and build awareness around the importance of children’s education. The Calgary Choice Awards is produced and managed by MediaWorks Corp.

The Calgary Choice Awards Gala brings together businesses, small and large, media and the public to celebrate excellence. The gala was designed by Calgarians for Calgarians rewarding and recognizing Calgary and surrounding area businesses for distinction in a variety of industries and categories. Winners are nominated and selected by Calgarians in an assortment of categories ranging from Customer Service and Entertainment to Arts and Culture, Best Employer, Best Independently Owned Business to Best New Business.

Calgary Choice Awards Gives Back to Children’s Education

A portion of the proceeds raised from this gala benefit the Green Learning Foundation (GLF), a registered charitable organization devoted to children’s education (www.greenlearningfoundation.com).The foundations mission is to facilitate children learning how to become true innovative, critical thinkers. GLF supports breaking away from the traditional method of education, giving students the opportunity to explore the world around them according to their individual learning preferences. One of the ways GLF accomplishes this is by creating scholarship opportunities for students students to attend Green Learning Academy who would otherwise be unable to benefit from this method of learning and education. The Foundation also supports a number of community programs and educational events throughout Calgary and the surrounding areas. These programs are designed with knowledge, learning and children as the baseline motivator and include The Learning Station (pre-school to Kindergarten), Free Public Monthly Parenting workshops and Teacher Training workshops on identifying a child’s individual learning style therefore enabling them to flourish and embrace the love of lifelong learning. Education for our children is a critical component to a successful future and GLF believes in ensuring an enriched environment for our children to establish both success in life and academics.
